Kate Buchanan has helped many Triangle Area families with estate planning. Given
Kate's experience in university development and philanthropy, it is no surprise
that her practice also includes helping individuals and families with charitable
giving. After several years of full time practice with Walker, Lambe, Rhudy & Costley,
PLLC, Kate now serves as the Assistant Dean for Alumni & Development for the
Duke University School of Law, but also continues to serve private clients in her
"of counsel" capacity with the firm. While serving in that capacity, Kate continues to
serve private clients in her "of counsel" capacity with the firm. Kate's practice
is concentrated in the areas of tax law, estate planning, estate administration,
tax exempt organizations and charitable gift planning. Kate's passion is education,
and like all of her colleagues at Walker, Lambe, Rhudy & Costley, PLLC, she
is known for her talent for educating clients about the complex issues involved
in estate planning and asset management.
Kate Buchanan was born and raised in Boulder County, Colorado. She worked several
years as a major and planned gift officer for both the University of Colorado and
Virginia Tech before attending law school. Kate has been a frequent professional
speaker on topics relating to charitable giving.
