After more than 25 years in private practice, most of it at Walker Lambe, Steve
Rhudy’s principal practice endeavors are in estate planning, estate, gift and income
tax planning, charitable gift planning, and estate and trust administration. He
also assists clients with business and intellectual property transactions, and provides
legal counsel to not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining Walker Lambe, Steve
practiced in Raleigh and in Research Triangle Park. Steve had also served for several
years as a lecturer at N. C. State, teaching classes in Business, Agricultural and
Environmental Law.
Steve’s background as an educator inevitably informs his approach to his work. Steve
believes that a key part of his role as legal advisor is not only to understand
where his clients have come from, and where they might seem to be going, but also
to provide them with enough legal and practical education to allow them to make
thoughtful and well-informed decisions.
When the athletic and music activity agendas of his teenage daughters permit, Steve
enjoys retreat to the family cabin at Rhudy Hill, built on a piece of his great
grandfather's farm in the Highlands of Southwest Virginia.
Although he was raised and educated in upstate New York, Steve has lived in North
Carolina most of his life and his wife is a North Carolina native.
