Rupe Gill

With more than 16 years of legal experience, Rupe Gill has assisted countless clients with their legal matters.  Rupe’s practice is primarily concentrated in Estate Planning and Elder Law.  Elder Law involves planning for the complex health care, long-term care, and other issues facing elderly and disabled individuals and their families.  Specifically, Rupe provides Medicaid planning, Special Needs planning and Veteran's Administration Aid and Attendance planning services.  His primary focus is protecting families from the devastating legal effects of disability and death.  He crafts plans for clients concerned about preserving their hard-earned dollars and providing for their loved ones in case of disability or death.  Then, he makes certain that these plans are properly administered.

After graduating from Northern Durham High School, Rupe earned his B. A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Upon graduation in 1985, he joined the US Air Force and served as an ICBM missile launch officer.  In 1990, he was in a handful of officers selected by the Air Force to attend law school.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland State University, College of Law, Cleveland, Ohio in 1993.  After law school, he served as an Attorney with the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG) and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  After extensive criminal trial experience, he began preparing estate planning documents for service members.  When Rupe returned home to North Carolina, he continued his emphasis on helping clients preserve their assets.  Although now retired from the USAF after 21 years of service, Rupe received numerous awards and decorations while in service, including the NATO Medal while deployed to Bosnia, the JAG Kuhfeld Award as the best Judge Advocate in Europe, the Field Grade Officer of the Year for HQ USAF in Europe, and the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters.  While in the Air Force,

Rupe continues to challenge and educate himself on all of the new ideas and developments in the ever-changing area of Elder Law as well as in Special Needs and VA A&A planning. He is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA), the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Durham Bar Association, the North Carolina and Pennsylvania State Bars and the North Carolina Bar Association.  During his downtime, he loves spending time with his family, reading, farming and playing all types of sports.
